8 DAY TOUR NATURAL WONDERS OF SOUTH ICELAND / INCLUDING GOLF

Day 1 / Arrival
Late arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Pick up car and proceed to your overnight accommodation in the capital city.

Day 2 / Reykjavik
Play golf in the Korpa Golf Course. At this time of year, it never gets really dark in Iceland so it is even possible to arrange to play a round of nighttime golf, for an extra fee.
A 1-day stay in Reykjavik. Optional activities: attend a concert or an opera at the Harpa Concert Hall; enjoy a whale watching cruise, try out delicious seafood or traditional Icelandic dishes. Also, visit the cultural centre, museums, and galleries which are so abundant in the world’s northernmost capital.

Day 3 / The Golden Circle: Þingvellir-Geysir-Gullfoss
Situated 30 km from Reykjavik, Þingvellir is one of the most important heritage sites in Iceland. It is home to the world’s oldest existing parliament (first established in 930 AD). It is also where the continental drift between the North American and Eurasian Plates can be seen—creating spectacular scenery. You can book a diving or snorkeling trip that takes you between two tectonic plates in the pristine, crystal clear water of Silfra. Next, explore Gullfoss (“the Waterfall of the Gods”), Iceland’s largest waterfall, and the famous Geysir area where Strokkur Geysir shoots hot water into the air every few minutes. Possible evening activity: golf in Geysir or Kirdjaberg Golf Course. Transfer to a hotel at Geysir or in the surrounding area for an overnight stay.

Day 4 / Vestmannaeyjer (Westman Islands)
Ferry transfer from Landeyjar Harbour to Vestmannaeyjar. Explore the island of Heimaey: visit the volcanic lava field formed after a volcanic eruption of Eldfell in 1973, or visit the new Eldheimar Volcano Museum. There are hiking trails all over the island which offer breathtaking panoramic views once you reach the top of the mountain ridge. We highly recommend taking a boat tour around the island during which you will be able to see colonies of birds and the steep cliffs along the coastline. And, of course, you will get a chance to play at one of the most extraordinary golf courses in the world, located on the ocean coast. Round off your day with a relaxing swim in the one-of-a-kind saltwater swimming pool followed by a delicious Icelandic dinner. Overnight accommodation in Heimaey Island.

Day 5 / Vik
Take a return ferry transfer and proceed east. En-route, make a short stop by the Seljalansfoss Waterfall which you can actually walk behind from one side to the other. Next, visit the village of Skogar, home to the wonderful Skogarfoss Waterfall, and Skogarsafn, the open-air museum. Those who enjoy hiking can climb up alongside the waterfall and continue along the river. This route overlooks a number of breathtaking panoramic views of glaciers and waterfalls. En route to Skogar; you can make a detour to reach the oldest Icelandic geothermal pools surrounded by mountains.
This day’s destination is Vík, the southernmost point of Iceland where the must-see highlights will be the black beach and the Dyrhólæy Rock Arch. The overnight stay is in Vík or its suburbs. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to play a round at the Vik Golf Course.

Day 6 / Skaftafell-Jökulsárlón
The Skaftafell National Park (covering 400-500 square km) is one of the most precious natural wonders in the country. Breathtaking landscape, mountains and glaciers, flora and fauna will leave visitors with unforgettable memories. The Svartifoss Waterfall, hiking trails and a unique opportunity to walk on the glacier… This place has something to offer for everyone.

Continue to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here, massive icebergs continually break off the Breidamerkurjokull Glacier and float slowly through the lagoon toward the ocean. While the lagoon is not very big in size, it is 250 meters deep; naturally we, see only the tops of the icebergs. Visitors often spot seals frequenting this place. Those who wish to cruise between floating icebergs can take an amphibian boat trip. Accommodation in the outlying area of the Skaftafell National Park.

Day 7 / Hveragerdi
A long drive along the southern coast back to “the Capital of Hot Springs“ the town of Hveragerdi. Enjoy your last round of golf or a nighttime hike across the mountains to the hot river where you can relieve fatigue after the long journey.

Day 8 / Departure
Drive from Hveragerdi directly to the Keflavik International Airport. Since you do not have to take an early morning flight, you can round off your Icelandic stay with a visit to the world renown Blue Lagoon. Return the car and take a return flight home.
