Easter is the best time to go on a skiing trip to Iceland!

Although Iceland is most popular because of its volcanoes, waterfalls, viking sagas and history, this country also has long winters and snowy mountains. Every year, winter reigns here for 6 months, and skiing as winter sports goes hand in hand with every Icelander’s life style.

Day 1. Welcome to Iceland! After you land in Keflavik international airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Reykjavik where you will stay for the night. Depending on what time of the day you are arriving, you can spend your free time exploring the northernmost capital of the world! We recommend you to visit such places as Hallgimskirkja, a church designed after the image of flowing lava; Harpa Concert Hall made from glass which beautifully reflects in the water and more other interesting highlights. If you still have some energy left from traveling, try out Reykjavik’s night life which is often called crazy or get some good night’s sleep before starting your skiing trip.

Day 2. Have a good breakfast and start preparing for the trip to the North. You will be transferred to Reykjavik domestic airport which is located in the city center. From here you will fly to the “capital of the North” called Akureyri. When you arrive to Akureryi, you will receive your rental car and drive to your accommodation. Today you will be able to start your skiing adventure and spend the afternoon in Hlidarfjall skiing base. This base is located about 10 kilometers away from Akureyri. In the evening we recommend to relax and unwind in city’s swimming pool and try out one of the traditional Icelandic dishes in a local restaurant.

Day 3. Start the day with a strong breakfast and spend the day skiing in Hlidarfjall base!

Day 4. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so get energized and prepare for your day adventures! If you want to change the surroundings, you can spend the day in one of the skiing bases that are located not so far away. You can choose to go to the skiing base in Dalvik (45 min drive from Akureyri) or Olafsjördur (1 and a half hour drive from Akureyri). On the way you will see amazing fjords and nature views that are really breathtaking and will leave you with amazing impressions!

Day 5. After breakfast you can choose how you want to spend your day. If you want to get more adrenaline and speed, you can go on top of the mountain with a helicopter and then ski all the way down. That is definitely an unforgettable experience!

If you want to have a more relaxed day, you can drive around and visit amazing natural sights of the North. We
recommend you to visit Godafoss waterfall otherwise called “waterfall of Gods”, spectacular Dimmuborgir lava fields, pseudo craters and relax in Myvatn Nature Baths. We recommend you to try eel which is caught in Myvatn lakes and black bread baked in the ground made by the locals. And of course, be on the lookout for the Northern Lights, maybe today is your lucky day!

Day 6. After breakfast you will go back to Reykjavik. You can choose which part of the day you want to leave. If you leave in the afternoon, you can spend the morning visiting Santa’s house, an ice cream farm where amazing home-made ice cream is made and other interesting places nearby. Before the flight, drop-off your rental car. After arriving in Reykjavik, get cozy in your accommodation and spend the last evening in this beautiful city.

Day 7. Unfortunately, it’s time to leave Iceland. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Keflavik International airport in time for your flight. We wish you a great trip home and hope to see you some time in Iceland again!
